XTX London Chess classic competition

On Thursday 12th December 5 children from year 4-6 travelled to the Emirates Stadium in London to take part int he XTX London Chess classic competition organised by Chess In Schools.  The children got the opportunity to learn from and play against Grand Masters, recieve additional chess coaching and then take part in a competition against children from across the country.  Over 15 schools took part and the children from Pierrepont Gamston represented Nottingham with such determination and skill.

We came away with both a silver and bronze individual medal which was an amazing achievement however the most exciting part was discovering that as a team they had come second.   Mrs Bills  who accompanied them was so proud of the way they played and their attitude throughout.  They were constantly looking to support and encourage one another.
